Christmas is coming!
Today is October 26th, and thus begins the two-month countdown to Christmas. For me, this holiday season is going to be the best one yet. I have been anxiously awaiting to see how things would be since this summer and everything is playing out as I had hoped. The reality is, with no vaccine in sight, I have every reason not to see anyone this holiday season.
COVID-19 has taken so much from us this year. But through all of that pain and heart break, through all of the lonely nights in by yourself, aimlessly scrolling social media, there is a silver lining. This holiday season, there is a 100% fail proof excuse to carefully select which obligations you attend and which ones you can’t. Think about it.
Awkward office party: “Oh, sorry, trying to make sure I am staying safe”.
Family obligations: “Weren’t you just (insert unsafe place), I can’t risk it right now”.
No massive Christmas party invites where you are damned if you go and damned if you don’t.
No hungover Thanksgiving after being out all night with friends at bars, spending way too much money trying to be cool.
This is heaven, instead, I can pick and choose small gatherings if I want, with people I actually want to be around. Or, I can just continue to be a happy recluse and sit at home hating on everything.
Either way, thanks COVID-19, for the only holiday excuse ever that no one can argue with, ever.
