What Would Your Ideal Middle Ages Job Be?

Sometimes when I let my mind drift away from the shit show that is 2020, I think about what things were like in the distant past. Things like, who was the first person to dig up a peanut and eat it? Were they allergic? Did they know then that it was going to be a serious food source? Things like that.

The other night while I was watching Castlevania on Netflix (pretty good) before falling asleep, I started wondering what kind of job I would have had during Medieval times, both realistic and fictional. In my mind I think I would have been a hermit and had some sort of shop where I messed around with shit. Mostly self-sustaining, I would not have need to go into town and really talk to anyone.

But, since I am a genius and modern-day philosopher, I think that profession would have translated to that time period as well. I would have definitely drawn different clients looking to seek advice or troubleshoot their problems.

This is where I would have made my money. All I can imagine is having one of those super dark and eclectic “workshops” with all sorts of random weird things on the wall (kind of like my current office).

It’s intriguing to think of how your personality in society today would have translated into pervious historical societies. In the comments, let me know your preference. What era would you go back to and where do you see yourself fitting with the established society. Don’t say Queen or King, because you wouldn’t, don’t flatter yourself.
